Licensing key

Regular price $99.00

If no license is ordered a softlock key will be emailed to a first time GEO5 user, free of charge, commonly within 24 hours (except weekends and holidays).

The licensing key (software or hardware) is included in the lease package, but for the lease of individual GEO5 programs, the key needs to be ordered.

If a hardlock key (dongle) is preferred, it needs to be ordered - click on Add To Cart button above.

Existing GEO5 users will get new programs added to their existing license unless otherwise requested.

Academic licenses are available.

Below are explained available licensing options. Please contact us if you have additional questions.

Standalone license

A standalone license is offered in one of two forms, as a softlock key or as a hardlock key.  A majority of GEO5 users need only one key, either softlock or hardlock.

The softlock key (example: 1000_1_AYVFTDTSEHMCHPVK) is commonly activated and delivered via email within 24 hours.

The hardlock key (dongle) is commonly delivered via mail within two to four business days.

Softlock key

With a softlock key, also known as a node-lock, GEO5 software can only be used on a single computer into which a softlock key (code) is entered. An advantage of a software key is that there is no dongle to keep track of. The softlock can be transferred to another computer (e.g. a new computer) by following the Software Key Rehost process. A softlock key can be converted into a hardlock key - conversion fee applies.

Hardlock key

With a hardlock key (dongle), you may install licensed GEO5 programs on an arbitrary number of computers, and share the hardlock key among them. The programs will work in fully functional mode on a computer into which the hardlock key is inserted. On other machines, GEO5 will work in demo mode.

Network license (hardlock only)

A network license is available only via a hardlock key and is used commonly by large organizations. With multiple purchased licenses, the network key allows users on the same network to use GEO5 programs concurrently. Commonly, the hardlock key is attached to a network server (a real one or virtual), but it may be attached to any networked computer visible by other computers running GEO5 programs on the same network.

Licensing and Expanding GEO5 Portfolio

This applies only to GEO5 users who are not subscribed to GEO5 Annual Maintenance.

The users with GEO5 Annual Maintenance get newly added programs, updates and new GEO5 versions directly through the GEO5 interface, or by running the GEO5 Update program. A great number of GEO5 users opt for GEO5 Annual Maintenance. For very rare and special cases, the following applies.

(a) A single hardlock key may support multiple GE5 programs in multiple versions. (Example: Licensing GEO5 Settlement 2018 and GEO5 Micropile 2019 is possible and supported by a single key.)

(b) Consequently, the users can install different editions of GEO5 programs on a single computer, and all programs are supported with a single key.

(c) Newly purchased GEO5 programs are commonly provided to the customer in the latest version unless a specific version is requested by a GEO5 user.

(d) If a user purchases a GEO5 program in a different edition than other GEO5 programs they own, they will update their programs via customized Personalized Setup. The customized Personalized Setup recognizes the key and provides the installation of all purchased programs in the appropriate edition. In this scenario updating GEO5 via its interface, or via Update GEO5 does not work.

A new GEO5 edition is commonly released once a year. Each GEO5 edition and is commonly maintained for 3 years after which it may be no longer be supported. For example, GEO5 2016 is supported in terms of bug fixing through 2016, 2017 and 2018, but not beyond. Users are encouraged to subscribe to annual maintenance to keep their programs up to date. The annual maintenance subscription for existing GEO5 users may not change in the event of GEO5 programs' price updates or modifications until the GEO5 users modify their GEO5 portfolio.
